Other Midwives
Marlene Bergman has lived in Gunnison Colorado for the past 18 years with a short time in Missoula Montana. A Certified Professional Midwife is certified through NARM (North American Registry of Midwives) and specializes in homebirth. Homebirth is a safe, legal option for birthing in the state of Colorado and has been shown to be as safe as hospital birth for low risk women (http://www.bmj.com/cgi/content/full/330/7505/1416). Marlene views pregnancy and childbirth as a normal, natural life-event which in most situations will proceed beautifully without intervention. She believes in birth as a family-centered experience. The midwife’s role is to guide and support the process while enhancing the family’s power of unity. The initial visit can last from one to two hours and is free. This is the family’s opportunity to ask questions and discuss any concerns regarding hombirth or how Marlene practices as a midwife. Marlene specializes in VBAC, blood work and prenatal testing, waterbirth, breasfeeding support, nutritional counseling, fertility counseling, pregnancy testing, family planning and contraception, herbal and homeopathic remedies, individualized prenatal care, labor and delivery in your home, individualized postpartum care, well woman care and has a wonderful lending library. Contact Marlene with Prairie Love Midwifery at www.prairielovemidwifery.com, prairielove@gmail.com or 970-901-9276 for more information.
